Tour Highlights

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Mansfield and meet the Off-Road Skills and Compass Expeditions crew for your pre-departure meeting.
Day 2: An early start as we ride the wonderful series of twisties that take us on paved roads to Whitfield, then Cheshunt; from then on it’s amazing dirt riding along Rose River Road and across the Goldie Spur Track that borders the Mt. Buffalo National Park; the views are tremendous across here. Riding on to Bright we ascend to the wonderful high country village of Falls Creek,
Day 3: A big ride today with a lot of time spent on the dirt.Descending from Falls Creek, we ride onto the legendary small town of Omeo, then north to Benambra, from this point we hit the dirt of the Benambra to Corryong Road as we enter the stunning Alpine National Park. We take the opportunity to really explore the many dirt tracks that abound in this national park, including some challenging steep country riding. Crossing into NSW we enter the Kosciuszko National Park before riding the incredible Alpine Way. We can have a go at crossing the Murray River before finishing in Jindabyne for the night.
Day 4: Another spectacular day riding the amazing dirt of the Barry Way, this track clings the valley sides precariously and offers sweeping views across the distant valleys. Some more superb dirt track riding will be had on the Tulloch Track before a chance to explore the Buchan Caves. From Buchan we ride the pavement out of the forests of the Snowy River National Park and onto the beautiful seaside resort town of Lakes Entrance where we spend the next two nights.
Day 5: Today we return to the mountains and explore some rarely used tracks and try out some challenging sections of dirt to put to practice what we have learnt during the Off Road Skills course.
Day 6: Our last day will see us ride to beautiful Licola before hitting the dirt of the Heyfield - Jamieson Road; this is more superb dirt riding as we cross the Great Dividing Range. Once at Mansfield, time permitting; we shall ride to the legendary Craig’s Hut as featured in the Man from Snowy River film, before returning to Mansfield and the end of our 5 days of mountains and ocean.

Insurance

Accidents happen, luggage is lost and tour or flight cancellations can occur, so it is our policy that all participants of Compass Expeditions tours have an appropriate level of travel insurance to cover the unforeseen. This is not only compulsory when joining our tours, but it makes sense.

If choosing your own insurance – for motorcycle tours it is crucial the insurance policy you choose will offer a policy for riding a motorcycle OVER 250cc (including our bikes). This is a critical point to ensure when purchasing a policy.

Our experienced In-house travel team are happy to help with getting you the right insurance for your tour and for any other travel you might be doing before or after. Contact our in-house travel team.
