The Compass Expeditions Reunion Weekend and 5-day Ride-out Back to News List

How do we follow this year’s amazing Compass Expeditions Reunion weekend and week-long ride-out?
We move it further up the coast and do it all again – That’s how!

The 2019 Reunion will be held over the weekend of March the 23rd and 24th and based in the lovely coastal town of Port Macquarie, NSW.
Port Macquarie nestled on the Hastings river is known for its beaches, wildlife and convict past but that is not why we are heading there next March.
For us, the draw is the fantastic riding that is rumored to be in the hinterland and National Parks not too far inland, as well as both north and south along the stunning coastline of the central north of NSW.
It also just happens to be at one end of the Oxley Highway, one of Australia’s best stretches of twisting blacktop and surrounded by many other road and dirt riding routes that are begging to be explored.

Thunderbolt’s Way, The Barrington Tops, Nambucca Heads and Old Bar are just a few of the possible rides that we will be looking into.
Fear not! Compass will be doing the hard yards and making sure that only the absolute best riding is offered to our valued guests for the 2019 edition of what is fast becoming an annual pilgrimage for our tour participants from all around the country and the world.

A 1 pm luncheon on the waterfront will be our meeting point to catch up with old friends before we head to the hills for a bit of moto-fun.
Regrouping at “Reunion HQ” – The comfortable and convenient El Paso Motor Inn (www.elpasomotorinn.com.au) for some idle boasting and general tyre kicking before adjourning to a nearby venue for the now famous “Reunion Dinner”.

Entertainment, guest speakers and surprises, who knows what we have in store for you this year – certainly not us at this stage, but we can definitely promise good food, good cheer, a photo competition and a night worth remembering.

UPDATE!

We have two speakers confirmed for Saturday night!

Tom Foster editor of Adventure Rider Magazine will be presenting on Saturday evening.

Tom Says” My juggling’s a bit rough, but I’m a handy guitarist. I was going rip out a heavy-metal rendition of Hot Potato, Hot Potato by the Wiggles, but I’ll stick with a quick talk and hello”.

Our other special guest will. be Billy “Biketruck” Ward who has recently returned from Iraq and Kurdistan with “Long Way” cameraman Claudio von Planta.

Billy will be speaking about their adventure in these extreme countries.

Here is a teaser of what to expect

Compass Expeditions 5-day ride out – Port Macquarie – March 2019
Following the success of the 2018 Compass Expeditions 5-day ride out in Merimbula, we will once again be inviting all riders and pillions to join us for a week of exceptional dirt and sealed road rides, socialising, dining, fun and relaxation. Each day you will have your choice of riding dirt or sealed road routes, planned for your pleasure, led out and supported by the Compass Expeditions crew.

The Port Macquarie region has riding options galore with runs north and south along the coast as well as many routes heading inland across the Great Dividing Range, through bushland, national parks and reserves and onto the rural plains on the western side of the range.

As always, we will be searching, researching and planning ride routes that highlight the different aspects of this beautiful region, the mountains, the bush and the coast for our daily rides. If you feel like a day off the bike, then the beach is a short stroll away, or the swimming pool is at your door. A shopping center is right across the road and the street is lined with cafes. Within walking distance of town are a lighthouse, the bayside promenade, a native zoo, an elevated rainforest walkway and a museum.

Port Macquarie boasts many fine restaurants and dining options, so each night we will be experiencing a new local culinary offering.

Come and join Compass Expeditions from Sunday 24th March to Friday 29th March 2019, immediately after our annual weekend reunion for a week of amazing riding, relaxation and socialising with others who like to ride, like to travel and preferably do both at the same time.

  • 6 Dinners.
  • 6 Breakfasts.
