We were treated to a very warm Saturday ride, out of town and along the country roads surrounding the border region. Crossing Lake Hume via the picturesque, steel truss, Bethanga Bridge. Just after entering Victoria we made a quick pit stop for a minute of silence to honour those who lost their lives while serving Australia then saddled up and made our way east along the Murray River before heading South again on the back roads to our lunch stop of Yackandandah.

Telling tales of tours passed and seeing old friends while we filled up on an American Style BBQ spread thanks to The Star Hotel, we could’ve stayed there all day but the road beckoned for an afternoon of winding our way through to Bright and up into the hills for scenic views of the Victorian High Country and all the way back over to the New South Wales border. Those with a penchant for old vehicles were also treated to hundreds of classic cars at the Annual Bright Rod Run and packed streets that would remind you of downtown Delhi out to see the parade of vehicles.

On returning to Albury we had time for a cold shower (and for some a cold beer) before dinner at Public House with the heavily contested Photo Competition, this year won by Yvonne Everett with a spectacular image from Patagonia Explorer 2022 and tough call between Duncan Bennett Ultimate South America 2023 and Cameron Coles Safari Africa 2023.

Sunday Morning took a smaller group back across the Murray River on the ferry and looping back around to the Ettamogah Pub for a coffee before everyone parted ways, waving the chequered flag on yet another great Compass Reunion.
